Charge Up Your Business

You may notice electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at gas stations, restaurants, and company parking lots, for example. Due to the increase in EVs, the demand for electricity is growing. In this Skillbuilder, you'll brainstorm and share creative ideas on how a small business can offer and monetize EV charging stations for customers.

Your Task
1. Choose a small business, such as a cafe, grocery store, bookstore, or restaurant. Your business has access to electricity and wants to offer EV charging to attract customers. How will you do it in a way that benefits both the business and customers?
2. You'll need to decide the following:

• Pricing Model - Will you charge per minute, per kWh, or offer free charging with a purchase?

• Customer Incentives – How will you encourage customers to use it? (e.g., discounts, loyalty rewards, priority parking)

• Business Benefits – How does this help their store? (e.g., increased foot traffic, customer loyalty, eco-friendly branding)

• Payment System – How will customers pay? (e.g., app, tap-to-pay, added to their bill)
